- The Osteoporosis Choice shared decision making tool supports the treatment conversations between patients at risk of osteoporotic fractures and their clinicians.
- To do so, the current version offers information about the relative pros and cons of using bisphosphonates to reduce the risk of osteoporotic fracture. It uses estimates of the patient’s risk of bone fracture from the FRAX calculator.
Tools for use during the clinical encounter:
- Online interactive tool (Preferred)
- Printed version (Video demonstration of their use)
DISCLAIMER: No shared decision making tool replaces the conversation patients should have with their clinicians to make important, clinical decisions. Use of these tools carries no liability to its developers or to the Mayo Clinic Foundation for Education and Research.
